Wow, I haven’t posted in almost 8 months. Ack! Well, it hasn’t been for a lack of trips…I’ve actually been busy with a side project and a bit lazy to organize all of my travel photos. So I thought I’d start back up again with a weekend trip to Antwerp that I took a little while ago.
Thalys was having a 20th anniversary sale (all tickets for €20 so heck yeah I was going to jump on that). I booked this trip months in advanced, but by the time it rolled around, it fell on a very busy time for us and we didn’t have enough time to plan anything. As it turns out Antwerp is the perfect city to just walk around, relax, have a beer, walk around some more, and have another beer. I’m a huge fan of kriek (cherry) beer so I was sipping that all weekend. It’s actually a really nice city, with a mix of old and new architecture. It reminded me a lot of Amsterdam (minus the canals) and what I really liked was that it was just so calm and non-crowded. We were lucky that we got a mostly sunny weekend, but I think even damper weather, it seems like a great city to live in.
