I went very camera-happy this summer and I’m still getting around to posting all the photos. I almost forgot about this set in between all the travel photos, but it just goes to show that you can find the prettiest places close to home (ok, well, if your home is Paris). The Musée Jacquemart-André is actually a really nice visit and even though you can barely notice it from the street since it’s behind a big wall, it’s very big. It’s located right beside my neighbourhood – the 8th arrondissement – and is about a 20 minute walk from the Champs Elysées.
A few tips
I really recommend the museum because not only is it as pretty on the inside as many more famous mansions or chateaux, but it has a lot less tourists. In fact, when I was there it was mostly locals that were quietly milling around in small groups (instead of giant herds of zombies. Why do tour groups somehow turn people into helpless buffoons?) Anyway, if you go to there, here are a few pointers:
- the lineup isn’t very long, but to save time, you can buy your ticket online or at the self-service kiosk just outside the entrance
- instead of buying the audio guide, you can download the free Musée Jacquemart-André app. It has a map and an audio guide in English
Oh and before I forget, here’s the address: Musée Jacquemart-André 158 Boulevard Haussmann, 75008 Paris
